Material
Start with the cabinet material and the look you want. NatureKast combines closed-cell PVC boxes with resin or HPL doors. Top Grill uses powder-coated aluminum. Belgard Artforms combines concrete panels with stainless steel inserts.
Consider moisture, UV and freeze-thaw exposure when comparing your options. NatureKast specifies a UV-stable topcoat and weather-resistant gaskets. Top Grill’s aluminum construction will not warp, rust or rot. For a broader material comparison, read our guide to outdoor kitchen materials in Canada.
Grills and heat
Check the grill requirements before choosing the surrounding cabinets. NatureKast is combustible, so an insulated grill jacket is required wherever the grill manufacturer specifies one.
Follow the appliance clearances for every cabinet system. Review the grill dimensions and any jacket requirements before ordering. You can explore Jackson Grills, Twin Eagles and Alfa Forni while planning the appliance layout.
Budget
Cabinets are one part of the kitchen cost. Counters run from $4,000 to $20,000 CAD, and built-in barbecues range from about $3,000 to over $10,000 CAD.
Compare complete kitchen budgets alongside cabinet materials. NatureKast, Top Grill and Belgard Artforms have different price positions. Finishes, counters, appliances and labour affect the final design price.
Site
Review the base, slope and location before selecting a system. NatureKast leg levellers adjust from 4 to 7.5 inches to help accommodate sloped patios.
Belgard Artforms panels are heavy and best at grade. The larger panels weigh about 150 lb each. Include photos of the proposed location when starting a consultation.
Utilities
You arrange the permits and the gas, power and water hookups.
Review those needs alongside the appliances and cabinet layout. Backyard Canada can install the cabinets, or your own contractor can install them. Check with the City of Calgary or your municipality about project requirements.
